This Alternative-Rock quintet first came together in the late '90s in
Knoxville, Tennessee USA with a line-up comprising vocalist Michael Lee,
lead guitarist Matt Wantland, rhythm guitarist Ryan 'Tater' Johnson, bassist
Andy Parks and drummer Brian Vodinh.
10 Years released the self-financed "Into The Half Moon" album
in 2001. A year later frontman Jesse Hasek replaced Lee and the band parted
company with Parks around the same time.
With new bass player, Lewis Cosby, on board, the Eastern Tennessee rockers
officially launched their groundbreaking EP, "Killing All That Holds
You", in April of 2003; the next year they re-released the disc with
4 extra tracks, then hit the road to tour the U.S. with the likes of Nonpoint,
Saliva, Shinedown,
Velvet Revolver and Sevendust
as well as started working on material for their Republic / Universal
Records debut.
The band finally released its first major label album, "The Autumn
Effect", in August 2005, it reached #72 on The Billboard Top 200
chart while the main single, "Wasteland", climbed to #1 on The
Modern Rock chart, falling one slot short of the same position on the
Mainstream Rock side; "Through The Iris" peaked at #20 on The
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and the final single, "Waking Up",
reached #32 on the same chart.
Having spent the better part of two years on the road, the band members
planned in October 2006 to take a month off and then dive back into writing
mode. They aimed to re-enter the studio in early 2007 and have their second
album done by that spring. But just a few weeks after they started coming
up with riffs and melodies, it became clear they were going to have to
throw away the calendar. "Division", finally saw the light of
day in May of 2008; as it turned out, the album was well worth the wait.
Musically eclectic, technically adept and emotionally poignant, the songs
shatter preconceptions, revealing a tapestry of previously unexplored
influences and a larger array of stunning melodies. It debuted at #12
on The Billboard 200 and the first single, "Beautiful", peaked
at #6 on The Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and at #14 on The Hot Modern Rock
charts.
