Rising from the Punk-Rock hotbed of Ocala, Florida USA, in 2003 vocalist
Jeremy McKinnon, guitarists Neil Westfall and Tom Denney, bassist Joshua
Woodard and drummer Bobby Scruggs formed A Day To Remember crafting a
blend of the music they loved into a niche of their own. Their sound combined
the Punk-Pop with brutal hardcore beatdowns.
The band's debut on Indianola Records, "And Their Name Was Treason",
was released in May 2005 selling 8,000 copies with little promotion thus
attracting the attention of Victory Records, who signed them in 2006.
With the release of their second full-length disc, "For Those Who
Have Heart", the group welcomed drummer Alex Shelnutt. In the two
short years after the album release in early 2007, the band grew from
a small band with a dedicated local fan-base into a worldwide sensation,
gaining the respect and adoration from their peers as much as their fans.
The quintet supported "For Those Who Have Heart" on the road
with bands they grew up listening to like New
Found Glory and Silverstein and
had a full summer on the Vans Warped Tour; the CD eventually reached the
#43 position on the U.S. Top Independent Albums chart.
February 2009 saw A Day To Remember put out its breakthrough album, "Homesick";
it debuted at #1 on the Billboard's Independent Albums chart and even
cracked the top 30 of The Billboard 200 Sales list. The set includes the
single "The Downfall Of Us All".
