Born Benjamin Lev Kweller on 16 June of 1981, in San Francisco, California
USA, this singer+songwriter grew up in Greenville, Texas where he started
writing songs on piano and guitar at the age of eight. The young Kweller
formed the Punk-Rock trio named Radish and started playing the club circuit
in Dallas and even recorded an EP and one album in 1994.
In the late '90s, after the broke-up of the band, Kweller moved to Brooklyn,
New York where he developed an eclectic personal style of Indie-Rock and
soon began booking solo gigs.
He recorded and self-released his first solo album, "Freak Out, It's
Ben Kweller" in 2000 and toured, opening for Eels,
Dashboard Confessional,
The Strokes, Guster,
among others.
The next year Ben Kweller signed a recording contract with ATO, the indie
label founded by Dave Matthews
and Michael McDonald and in December
released the 6-track EP "Phone Home".
In March 2002 the album "Sha Sha" was released, Kweller's debut
full-length CD included the single "Wasted And Ready" which
climbed into the top 30 of The Modern Rock Tracks chart.
The singer returned two years later with his sophomore release "On
My Way"; though the lead single, "The Rules", didn't chart,
the album reached the #83 spot on The Billboard Top 200 chart.
Ben Kweller started recording his new, self-titled, album in February
2006 at The Magic Shop in New York City, the 11-track set hit shelves
in September and is preceded by the single "Sundress".
