This singer + songwriter was born in 1979 in Sydney AUSTRALIA; as a child Ben Lee began to play music, eventually forming a Punk-Rock band called Noise Addict. In 1995, Lee released his first solo album, "Grandpaw Would", on Fellaheen Records in his homecountry and on Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label in the United States; there he had the chance to tour with the likes of Ben Harper and Jack Johnson. A second album was released two years later, "Something To Remember
Me By", was a mostly acoustic affair but the record stayed out of
the charts. Lee's carrer, temporarily overshadowed by his relationship with actress
Claire Danes, continued with the release of 2002's "Hey You. Yes
You.", also on Modular. Ben Lee returned in early 2005 with his fifth full-length disc, "Awake Is The New Sleep", the first for Inertia Recordings and his highest selling album to date; it included the Australian top 40 hit "Gamble Everything For Love" and the international hit single "Catch My Disease". September 2007 saw the release of "Ripe", which charted inside the U.S. Independent Albums' top 40 and fell just shy of reaching the Aussie ARIA top 10 producing a national top 20 hit with "Love Me Like The World Is Ending". Ben Lee dedicates his seventh studio recording to Venus, the Goddess of love and beauty; the 13-song set entitled "The Rebirth Of Venus" arrives in stores on February 7, 2009; "I Love Pop Music" is the first single plucked from the new CD.
