This Alternative-Rock Indie-Rock trio had its roots in a band called The Elements, a San Francisco, California USA-based act put together by bassist+vocalist Robert Turner and guitarist+vocalist Peter Hayes, in 1998; the two enlisted the help of English drummer Nick Jago, who moved to California in 1996 and began recording together. They cut a full-length demo with no record label back and started gigging around the Bay Area.

They re-christened themselves like Marlon Brando's gang name, in the 1950 classic film "The Wild One", Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, moved to Los Angeles and finally signed a deal with Virgin Records.
After a national tour with The Dandy Warhols, the threesome entered the studio and in April of 2001 released their official debut album titled "B.R.M.C."; it included the U.K. top 40 hit singles "Love Burns" and "Spread Your Love".
The band's second effort, "Take Them On, On Your Own", came out in September of 2003; it cracked The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart reaching the #47 slot and climbed into the top 3 of the British chart while the main single, "Stop", peaked at #16.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were unceremoniously dropped by Virgin in a cloud of bad feeling, but two years later the trio resurfaced with their third full-length disc, "Howl"; the album was eventually released in August 2005 on Echo label in Europe where it debuted in the U.K. Top 20 and on RCA in North America reaching the #90 position on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart; the first single, "Ain't No Easy Way", peaked at #21 on the Brit-Pop Sales chart.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has christened its fourth album "Baby 81" and the 13-track set, released in May 2007, includes the singles "Weapon Of Choice" and "Berlin".
