The Alternative-Rock Hard-Rock combo Buckcherry first formed in the mid-'90s
in Los Angeles, California USA, by vocalist Joshua Todd and guitarist
Keith Nelson, the pair soon joined forces with bassist Jonathan 'J.B.'
Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn and started to play shows around the
area generating a strong buzz thanks to a heavily bootlegged demo tape
and a swelling reputation as a must-see live act. The band expanded to
a five-piece with an extra guitarist, Yogi and eventually signed a record
deal with DreamWorks.
The L.A.-based group broke onto the national scene in 1999 with their
self-titled debut full-length disc, it rose to #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers
chart upon its spring release and reached the #74 slot on The Billboard
200 Albums list spawning such Rock-radio hit singles as "Lit Up",
which peaked at #1 on The Mainstream Rock chart, "For The Movies"
which hit the top 30 on both Modern and Mainstream Rock charts, "Dead
Again" a further Active Rock top 40 entrant and the final single,
"Check Your Head", also cracked the top 30 of the Billboard's
Mainstream Rock list.
The quintet went on to release the follow-up, "Time Bomb", in
March 2001, followed by a successful stint opening for one of their heroes,
AC/DC; the album reached #64 on The Billboard
Top 200 but it failed to recapture the mass audience of their debut CD,
producing only one Mainstream Rock top 10 hit in "Ridin'".
The following year, it was announced that Buckcherry was on hiatus.
In 2005 Buckcherry founders, frontman Josh Todd and his co-writer, guitarist
Keith Nelson recruited guitarist Stevie D, bassist Jimmy Ashhurst and
drummer Xavier Muriel to make their comeback album, "15", which
was named after the number of days it took to record the LP; it was released
by Universal Japan in November and will splash down in North-America on
April 11, 2006; "Crazy Bitch" is the first single off the band's
third album.
