Singer Gene Louis and Brent Clawson are longtime St. Louis friends who've been playing together since they were kids. They moved to Orange County, California USA and started a band with Louis playing drums, his father was a big band drummer and Dixieland jazz star. When their singer quit Gene Louis took over the front-man position; to replace his role as drummer, he recruited Matt Rainwater and also enlisted the help of guitarists Jack Tankersley and Skye Jane.

After a line-up change which left only Louis and bass player Brent Clawson remaining from Bullets And Octane's original roster, long time St. Louis friend Ty Smith, who at the time was playing with seminal Punk-Rock outfit Guttermouth and Missourian guitarist James Daniel were recruited prior to recording "The Revelry", their debut album which was issued by the indie label Ares Records in September 2004.
Since the band's first show New Year's Eve 2000, they have been touring relentlessly with such acts as Avenged Sevenfold and Eagles Of Death Metal creating the blistering passionate Punk-influenced heavy-Rock that's endeared fans nationwide.

The second Bullets And Octane offering, "In The Mouth Of The Young", produced by Page Hamilton of Helmet, was released in April 2006 through RCA Records; the 12-song set included the Active Rock radio minor hit single "Save Me Sorrow".

For the band's third full-length release, Louis, Clawson, Ty Smith along with newly added guitarist Kevin Tapia, decided to take matters into their own hands this time around. Their very own Brent Clawson produced, engineered and mixed "Song For The Underdog" in the band's Garden Grove studio.

During 2008 an almost completely new line-up was announced. The core members of Louis and Clawson were re-joined by former guitarist Jack Tankersley; drummer Brian Totten replaced Ty Smith and Kevin Besignano took over as rhythm guitarist. Bullets And Octane's fourth album, the double-CD set "Laughing In The Face Of Failure", came out in October 2009.
