This Alternative-Rock band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA,
in 1998 around the core of singer+guitarist Deron Miller and drummer Jess
Margera, the two had already played together in the Metal band Foreign
Objects; that year they met up with guitarist Chad Ginsburg and started
recording as Camp Kill Yourself, later shortened to CKY, the result was
an album titled "Volume 1"; lastly bass player Ryan Bruni was
thrown in to complete the live line-up.
The group became popular in skate circles when their music provided the
soundtrack for two skateboarding videos starring Margera's brother, Bam;
they landed slots on the 1999 and 2000 Vans Warped Tour as well as a recording
contract with Def Jam/Island; meanwhile Bruni was fired and replaced with
bassist Vern Zaborowski.
Having already sold 40,000 units on word-of-mouth with little promotion,
Island Records opted to reissue CKY's first album in the summer of 2001.
The band released in September 2002 their second album, "Infiltrate
Destroy Rebuild", which peaked at #99 on The Billboard Top 200 chart
spawning a moderate Active Rock hit in "Flesh Into Gear".
CKY resurfaced in mid-2005 with its new album, "An Answer Can Be
Found" and the excellent radio-single "Familiar Realm".
