Born in Seattle, Washington USA on July 20, 1964, Chris Cornell has been
playing music ever since the age of eight, he subsequently took up the
piano and went on to discover guitar and then drums; Cornell joined a
cover band in high school and by his late teens, met up with newly transplanted
guitarist Kim Thayil.
They started Soundgarden in 1984, Cornell
took on the duties of drumming and singing. He wrote most of the material
on the critically acclaimed, 1991 project Temple
Of The Dog, a collective of Pearl Jam
and Soundgarden members who formed
in tribute to Mother Love Bone
singer Andrew Wood, Chris Cornell duetted with Eddie Vedder on "Hunger
Strike".
In April of 1997 Soundgarden officially
disbanded; in early 1998, was released the soundtrack of the movie "Great
Expectations" on which Cornell performed "Sunshower", the
single entered both the Billboard's Rock charts reaching #8 on Active
Rock list and the #12 slot on The Modern Rock Tracks.
In September 1999, "Euphoria Morning", his debut solo album
appeared and became a top 20 hit on The Billboard Top 200 chart generating
the single "Can't Change Me" which peaked at #5 on The Mainstream
Rock chart and at #7 on The Modern Rock Tracks.
Cornell's next project was to team up with ex-Rage
Against The Machine members guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford
and drummer Brad Wilk in Audioslave,
they released their acclaimed self-titled debut album in November 2002.
In 2006 Chris Cornell performed the main title song, "You Know My
Name", for the James Bond film "Casino Royale". The track
was also featured on his second solo album, "Carry On", which
arrived in early June 2007; the album included one more single/video "Arms
Around Your Love".
