Hailing from the seaside village of Hoylake, Merseyside ENGLAND, the Indie-Rock act The Coral first formed in the second half of the '90s when then high-school students James Skelly on vocals+guitar, Bill Ryder-Jones on guitar+trumpet, Lee Southall on guitar+vocals, Nick Power on organ+vocals, Paul Duffy on bass+sax and Ian Skelly on drums learned to play their instruments together and started writing their own music.

During 2001 Alan Wills picked up The Coral and launched Deltasonic Records; the summer of that year the six-piece band released their debut disc, the 3-track EP "Shadows Fall".
Their self-titled debut full-length album appeared a year later and smashed into the top 5 of the U.K. Pop chart spawning "Goodbye" which reached the #21 in the U.K. Official Singles list and "Dreaming Of You" which hit #13 in the same chart. The band's debut album also cracked the top 20 of the American Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.
The Coral issued its sophomore album in late summer of 2003, "Magic And Medicine" went straight to #1 in Britain on the heels of two U.K. top 10 hit singles, "Don't Think You're The First" and "Pass It On".
Just six months later the band had a new album titled "Nightfreak And The Sons Of Becker", the record shot to #5 in the Official U.K. Pop chart.

The Coral released their fourth album in May 2005, it became an instant top 3 hit in their native England and its lead single "In The Morning" peaked at #4 on the Official U.K. Pop list, their best chart-placing to date.
