This Alternative-Rock band was formed in 1993, in Portland, Oregon USA,
by singer+guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor , lead guitarist Peter Holmström,
keyboardist+bassist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford.
The quartet began playing at local venues in their hometown and in spring
1995 the band issued their debut full-length album, "Dandys Rule
OK?", on independent label Tim/Kerr.
After signing with Capitol Records they released "The Dandy Warhols
Come Down" in July of 1997, the single "Not If You Were The
Last Junkie On Earth" broke the top 40 of the American Modern Rock
chart and also received some airplay in Europe. The group toured behind
the album opening for Radiohead.
The following year Hedford left the band after a major fallout with Taylor;
frontman's cousin, Brent DeBoer, took over the drum chair when The Dandy
Warhols began working on their third LP, "Thirteen Tales From Urban
Bohemia"; the record scraped the lower reaches of The Billboard Top
200 chart, it included "Bohemian Like You" which peaked at #28
on The Modern Rock Tracks chart and entered the top 10 in many European
charts, the follow-up single, "Godless", was a minor alt-Rock
radio hit.
In May 2003, the band resurfaced with "Welcome To The Monkey House"
which reached the #118 position on Billboard's Top 200, their best chart-placing
to date in the United States; the first single, "We Used To Be Friends",
failed to chart in America but cracked the top 20 of The Official U.K.
Pop chart.
The Dandy Warhols released its fifth album, "Odditorium Or Warlords
Of Mars", in September 2005, the set features two singles, "Smoke
It" and "All The Money Or The Simple Life Honey".
