Featuring a dynamic fusion of several Alternative-Metal's stylistic touchstones,
Disturbed have become one of the most passionate and well-respected bands
in the Hard-Rock universe, a dependable source not only of pummeling riffs
and jackhammer beats, but of personal and political insights into our
troubled times. Lead guitarist Don Donegan, bassist Steve 'Fuzz' Kmak
and drummer Mike Wengren first got together in 1997 in Chicago, Illinois
USA, where they gig at at local live Rock venues prior to the addition
of the imperious chrome-domed vocalist David Draiman, who completed the
line-up.
Signed to Giant Records, they released their their impressive debut full-length
album, "The Sickness", in March 2000. The record was a large
success across the U.S. where it peaked at #29 on The Billboard Top 200
chart following the success of two Modern Rock top 10 hit singles: "Stupify"
and "Down With The Sickness", the latter of which also hit #5
on The Mainstream Rock Tracks; they also gained a large fan base for their
live show and the CD obtained triple-platinum certification spawning two
more singles: "Voices", which climbed into the top 20 on both
Active and alt-Rock airplay charts and the Mainstream Rock top 40 hit
"The Game".
Two years later, in September 2002, the band issued "Believe"
which became an instant hit, flying in at #1 in the U.S. Albums chart;
the first single, "Prayer", quickly catapulted into the top
3 on both Mainstream and Modern Rock charts and was followed by "Remember"
and "Liberate" which peaked at #6 and #4, respectively, on the
Billboard's Active Rock chart.
In November 2003, founder member Fuzz left the band for unknown reasons.
The next year saw the release of "Music As A Weapon II", a split
album which collected 2003's live performances from Disturbed, Chevelle,
Taproot and Ünloco; the set reached
a modest #148 on The Billboard 200.
But in September 2005, the Windy City rockers went straight to #1 in U.S.
with their third proper album, "Ten Thousand Fists"; it features
the recording debut of new bassist, John Moyer, formerly of The
Union Underground. The CD's first radio single, "Guarded",
shot to #7 on The Mainstream Rock chart, "Stricken" climbed
higher falling just one position short of #1 and "Just Stop"
peaked at #4 on the same chart; but it was the cover of Genesis' "Land
Of Confusion" that gave the group their long-awaited Hot Mainstream
Rock #1 hit. The album's title song and final single was another Active
Rock top 10 hit for the band.
After three platinum-plus albums, Disturbed returned in June 2008 with
"Indestructible"; frontman David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan
and drummer Mike Wengren decided to take the reins and produce themselves
in the studio. The 12-song set includes the Hot Mainstream Rock #1 smash
single "Inside The Fire".
