This Pop-Rock band based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire ENGLAND, began
its existence in 1991, when a pair of brothers decided to form a Goth-oriented
act; two years later, lead vocalists+guitarist Danny and lead guitarist
Richard McNamara changed musical direction and recruited bassist Steven
Firth and drummer Mike Heaton to complete the line-up.
During 1996, they recorded and released their first single, "All
You Good Good People" on Fierce Panda Records; the following year
saw the release of a couple of EPs and two more singles, "Fireworks"
and "One Big Family", on the new label Hut Recordings that re-released
their debut single; this time, "All You Good Good People", became
a top 10 hit in U.K. chart. The band's debut album, "The Good Will
Out", was issued in the summer of 1998 going to #1 in Britain and
spawning another hit single in "Come Back To What You Know".
After the addition of keyboardist Mickey Dale as a full time member, Embrace
returned in late 1999 with the single "Hooligan" in advance
of their second LP, "Drawn From Memory" which arrived the following
spring and rose to #8 on the Official U.K. chart but quickly fade out
of the spotlight.
2001's "If You've Never Been" reached the #9 in British Albums
chart and included the top 20 single "Wonder"; both the last
two albums received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike.
Embrace re-emerged in September of 2004 with their fourth album, "Out
Of Nothing", which went straight to #1 in Britain thanks to the first
single, "Gravity" written by Chris Martin of Coldplay.
