Internationally recognized as one of the most successful Rap artists
in history, the white rappers Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born on October
17, 1973, in Kansas City, Missouri USA and spent the early years traveling
with his mother back and forth between his hometown and the Detroit metropolitan
area.
Eminem released the debut album, "Infinite", in 1996 through
independent label FBT.
It was followed, one year later, by "The Slim Shady EP" which
included an Hip-Hop underground hit titled "Just Don't Give A Fuck".
In the fall of 1998 Interscope Records signed the rapper; the major-label
debut, "The Slim Shady LP", was released a few months later,
it climbed The Billboard 200 chart peking at #2 helped by the single "My
Name Is" which entered the top 40 of The Modern Rock chart; at the
42nd Annual Grammy Awards, both the LP and the single won for Best Rap
Album and Best Rap Solo Performance, respectively.
In May 2000, Eminem, issued "The Marshall Mathers LP", which
immediately rose to the top of The North-American Albums charts; its main
single, the Modern Rock top 20 hit, "The Real Slim Shady", was
a phenomenal commercial success all over the globe; despite criticism
from gay rights groups, the rapper swept up three Grammy Awards including
Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo Performance.
He returned almost exactly two years later with his fourth effort, "The
Eminem Show", another instant chart topper in America, the first
single, "Without Me", hit #2 on The Billboard Hot 100, peaked
at #15 on The Modern Rock Tracks and became an international success hitting
#1 in Australia, U.K. and several other European countries; the second
single, "Cleanin Out My Closet", leapt to the #4 position on
the U.S. Hot 100 chart; the following February, "The Eminem Show"
would earn him his third consecutive Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
Over the course of 2002 Eminem contributed the song "Lose Yourself"
to the soundtrack of his debut movie "8 Mile", the single shot
to #1 on The Billboard Hot 100 and reached #14 on The Modern Rock chart.
At the end of the 46th Annual Grammy ceremony, he walked off with two
more awards: Best Rap Song and Best Male Rap Solo Performance for "Lose
Yourself".
In Novemer of 2004 the rapper issued, "Encore", which rose
like a bullet to #1 in Canada and U.S. where the record sold 4 million
copies before the year was out; the single "Just Lose It" debuted
at #6 on The Billboard Hot 100 and hit #1 in U.K. and Australia.
"Relapse", Eminem's first album of new material in more than
four years arrived in May 2009 going straight to #1 on The Billboard 200
and on the Top Canadian Albums charts.
