The Hardcore Metal troop Every Time I Die was formed in the late '90s in Buffalo, New York USA, by vocalist Keith Buckley, his younger brother guitarist Jordan Buckley, Andrew Williams also on guitar, John McCarthy on bass and Sean Hughes on drums.

In 2000 the quintet released the 5-track EP "Burial Plot Bidding War" on the small independent Canadian label called Good Fellow Records; the set took off like a forest fire via word of mouth and quickly established Every Time I Die as one to watch on the screamo metalcore circuit.

A new contract with the respected independent label Ferret Music followed and with a new rhythm section of bassist Aaron Ratajczak and drummer Michael Novak on board, the group released their first full-length album, "Last Night In Town", in 2001. They went back out on the road, opening up for Metal titans Killswitch Engage.

Further line-up changes saw the departure of Ratajczak and new bass player Stephen Micciche making his debut on 2003's "Hot Damn!". This sophomore release, which climbed into the top 50 of the U.S. Independent Albums chart, revealed a band again willing to broaden their musical horizons, with some southern-styled guitar Rock and conventional vocals thrown into the mix.

Two years later the Buffalo-based quintet released "Gutter Phenomenon"; Kevin Falk filled the problematic bass slot on this record which hit #10 on the Billboard's Top Independent Albums list and also reached the #71 position on The Billboard 200 Sales chart propelling Every Time I Die to the forefront of the post-hardcore scene. More bass players came and went as the band toured in support of the album.

By the release of the band's fourth album, "The Big Dirty", Every Time I Die had opted to continue in the studio as a quartet. The CD, which was one place short of cracking the top 40 of The Billboard 200, came out in September 2007. After having gone through seven bassists since 2000, the group has tapped Josh Newton to handle bass duties during Sounds Of The Underground 2007 tour alongside GWAR, Shadows Fall and Chimaira to name of few.

At the end of June 2009, drummer Mike Novak announced he was quitting Every Time I Die; the band continued work on their Epitaph Records debut, "New Junk Aesthetic", with Ryan Leger settled behind the drum kit.
