This Alternative-Rock band were formed in the summer of 1997 in Los Angeles,
California USA, around the line-up of Scott Stevens on vocals+guitar,
Freddy Herrera on bass and Thom Sullivan on drums; the following year
guitarist David Walsh joined The Exies which began playing clubs in Southern
California.
Sullivan left the band before the band recorded its self-titled debut
album, which was issued in March 2000, driven by the radio-friendly single
"Baby's Got A New Revelation"; not long after, Dennis Wolfe
took the place of Sullivan behind the drum kit.
By the spring of 2001, the revitalized group had a new album's worth of
material and a new record deal with Virgin Records who released in early
2003 "Inertia"; their second effort soared to the #1 spot on
Billboard Magazine's Top Heatseekers and reached #115 in U.S. National
Albums charts, while the main single, "My Goddess", crashed
into the top 20 of The Mainstream Rock chart.
The SoCal modern Rock band returned with the second Virgin Records CD,
"Head For The Door", in the fall of 2004, it incuded "Ugly"
which reached #11 on the Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks and #13 on
The Modern Rock list; the second single, "What You Deserve",
also hit the top 40 of the Active Rock chart.
After two years of touring with bands like Breaking
Benjamin, 30 Seconds To Mars,
The Used, Sparta
and Evanescence, The Exies appeared on Mötley
Crüe's Carnival Of Sins tour by special request of longtime fan
Nikki Sixx, who helped make the introduction to Eleven Seven Music label
to issue their fourth album, "A Modern Way Of Living With The Truth"
in May 2007; the CD includes the Hot Mainstream Rock top 30 hit "Different
Than You".
The band's current line-up is Scott Stevens, Freddy Herrera, guitarist
Chris Skane and drummer Hoss Wright.
The Exies are out with the video to their unreleased song "God We
Look Good (Going Down in Flames)", not featured on their new album,
a politically-charged number related in part to their Jail Paris Hilton
campaign earlier this year.
