Feist

Feist is a musical chameleon who has undergone several transformations on her way to occupying the hearts of music geeks everywhere. She was born Leslie Feist on February 13, 1976 in Amherst, Nova Scotia CANADA; however, she and her family soon went west and she spent the majority of her childhood in the prairie towns of Regina and Calgary.

She got her start playing in Calgary Punk bands; that early taste of success convinced Feist that her future was in music and she spent the next five years of her life touring the country screaming into a microphone; her lifestyle may have continued unabated had she not lost her voice in the midst of her first cross-Canada tour. Unable to receive the treatment she needed in Calgary, she moved to Toronto in 1998 to put her career back on track.
Feist returned to the music scene with her first solo album in 1999, despite receiving plenty of critical praise, "Monarch - Lay Your Jewelled Head Down", failed to attract a mass audience and soon went out of print. She also played half a dozen other bands.
Following up her self-released debut album, "Let It Die" was recorded in Paris between 2002 and 2003 and finally released in May 2004; her sophomore solo effort went gold in Canada, made Feist an underground star and gave her a glimpse of the mainstream via wins for Alternative Album and New Artist Of The Year at the 2005 Junos.

"The Reminder", her third release hit the top 3 of the Canadian Albums chart and climbed into the top 20 of the U.S. Billboard 200; the main single, "1234", has soundtracked the worldwide launch ad of the new iPod Nano video player. Since the ad debuted in mid-September, sales of the single has skyrocketed, particularly on The Billboard Hot 100 where it leapt into the top 10.
