The Alternative-Metal act Flyleaf first got its start in 2002 when lead
vocalist Lacey Mosley, guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann,
bassist Pat Seals and drummer James Culpepper began to cultivate a dedicated
cult following playing gigs in and around their hometown of Temple, Texas
USA; they also opened for NuMetal bands such as Evanescence,
Flickerstick, TRUSTcompany,
Saliva and Earshot.
The quintet signed for Octone Records who released a 6-track EP in mid-2005.
Flyleaf then locked themselves in a Los Angeles recording studio for two
months and finally emerged with their eponymously titled debut album in
late September 2005; the 11-song set included the powerful first single
"I'm So Sick" which peaked at #12 on The Hot Mainstream Rock
chart and climbed into the top 30 of The Hot Modern Rock Tracks. The full-length
CD became a #1 hit on the U.S. Top Christian Albums chart and eventually
reached the #57 position on The Billboard 200 racking up platinum plaque.
The second single, "Fully Alive", matched the charts performance
of its predecessor peaking at #13 on The Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks but
the third single, "All Around Me", exploded onto the Hot Modern
Rock Tracks at #6 and ascended into the top 40 of The Billboard Hot 100.
November 2009 saw the Texas quintet put out their highly anticipated
sophomore album "Memento Mori". Flyleaf's latest offering is
another collection of poignant, passionate and pensive heavy-Rock songs,
including the kinetic first single, the Alternative Rock top 20 hit "Again".
