The Fratellis formed in their native Glasgow, SCOTLAND, in early 2005
and inspired by The Ramones, decided to anoint each member with the same
last name as the band; Fratelli is the actual surname of bassist Barry,
the Pop-Rock act also features vocalist + guitarist Jon Fratelli and drummer
Mince Fratelli.
In mid-2006 they cracked the U.K. Top 20 with first single "Henrietta"
before catapulting into the top 5 with "Chelsea Dagger". Their
debut album, "Costello Music", opened at #2 on the British Sales
chart upon its September 2006 release, generating yet another top 10 hit
with "Whistle For The Choir". The fact that the Glaswegian trio
had their song "Flathead" featured in the iPod ads was a testament
to the band's quality; this track peaked at #33 on the U.S. Hot Modern
Rock chart and helped lift the group's debut album to #48 on The Billboard
200.
"Here We Stand" was the sophomore album by The Fratellis. Continuing
where "Costello Music" left off, the record is packed with anthemic
sing-a-long indie but with a slight Rock edge; the 12-song set, which
included the U.K top 40 single "Mistress Mabel", was released
in June 2008 going straight into the top 5 in Britain but failed to match
its predecessor's sales as it reached #80 on the U.S. Top 200 Albums chart.
