This acid jazz-styled act was formed in 1993 by DJ multi-instrumentalist Norman Cook who teamed-up with trombonist+vocalist Ashley Slater.

The pair released the Freak Power's debut "Drive-Thru Booty" a year later, the record generated the European smash single "Turn On Tune In Cop Out".
During 1995, Cook, embarked on his new project, Fatboy Slim, but recorded the second effort credited to Freak Power which was issued in June of 1996, it included the moderate hit "Can You Feel It".
Finally, after the release of the non-album single "No Way", Freak Power split up.
