The Industrial Alternative-Metal four-piece outfit from Boston, Massachusetts USA, Godsmack, led by frontman singer Sully Erna, was put together in the mid-'90s including guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Tommy Stewart.

Their first album was originally titled "All Wound Up" and released on an independent label in early 1997; Universal Records signed them a year later and re-released the record, as a self-titled album, that summer. During 1999, it cracked The Billboard Top 200 chart selling 4 million copies and generated an incredible amount of Active Rock top 10 smash singles: "Keep Away", "Whatever", "Bad Religion" and "Voodoo".
Godsmack hit the road on their first headlining tour, "The Voodoo Tour"; the band's strong live performances, coupled with high record sales and growing number of fans, landed them time slots on Ozzfest 1999 and 2000, a European tour with Black Sabbath and an appearance at Woodstock 1999.

In 2000, their second effort, "Awake" peaked at #5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and the title-track rose to #1 on The Mainstream Rock chart; "Greed" was another huge hit reaching the #3 spot on the same chart.
After spending over four years on the road the band decided to take a break before heading back into the studio. It was during this break that Stewart amicably departed and teamed up with Lo-Pro. Drummer Shannon Larkin was asked to replace him.

The new line-up headed to Miami to write and record the band's third CD and in April of 2003 "Faceless", was completed; the record climbed to the top of The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart spawning two #1s Mainstream Rock smashes: "Straight Out Of Line" and "I Stand Alone", the latter of which also appeared on the soundtrack of the movie "The Scorpion King". "Faceless" brought another tour that ran 23 months strong inlcuding an 11 month international arena tour with Metallica. Two more single cuts stormed the Billboard's Rock charts: "Serenity" hit the top 10 on both Active and Modern Rock Tracks lists, "Re-Align" climbed to #3 on The Mainstream Rock chart.

In the spring of 2004, Erna and company, delivered "The Other Side", an excellent acoustic 7-song EP, it reached the top 5 of the U.S. Albums chart highlighted by "Running Blind", which rose to #3 on The Mainstream Rock chart and the top 10 hit "Touché".

Godsmack's fourth full-length CD, simply titled "IV", arrived in April 2006 going straight to #1 on The Billboard 200 and to #4 in Canada; it included the Hot Mainstream Rock #1 single "Speak" which also bulleted into the top 10 of The Hot Modern Rock Tracks; The Boston-based rockers hit #4 on Active Rock radio chart with both the follow-ups singles, "Shine Down" and "The Enemy".

One year later they assembled the career-spanning compilation "Good Times, Bad Times ...Ten Years Of Godsmack"; the CD-DVD set hit the #35 position in U.S. and featured the previously unreleased version of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" which debuted at #8 on The Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.

Godsmack are back on the scene with a brand new track called "Whiskey Hangover", the first new single from the band in almost three years.
