The Huntington Beach, California USA-based Punk-Rock outfit Guttermouth
appeared on the local music scene in 1989 with a line-up comprising of
vocalist Mark 'Mercury' Adkins, guitarists Derek Davis and Scott Sheldon
bassist Clint Wienrich and Captain James Nunn on drums.
The group spent the next year on the road, building a loyal fan base
through live shows and released their first album called "Full Length".
During 1994 the band signed a recording contract with The
Offspring frontman Bryan 'Dexter' Holland's Nitro Records who released
"Friendly People".
In spring of 1995, bassist Steve Rapp joined Guttermouth replacing Wienrich
and in May 1996 was issued "Teri Yakimoto", the record cracked
the top 40 of the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart; that year Nitro repackaged
the band's debut album which was released with eight bonus tracks under
the title "The Album Formerly Known As Full Length LP".
Their next album, "Musical Monkey", arrived in July 1997 and
a year later the band released the concert album, "Live From The
Pharmacy", which was originally recorded in South Carolina in the
summer of 1994.
Rapp left the crew, Ty Smith joined on drums and Captain James Nunn switched
to the bass guitar, before Guttermouth started recording a new studio
album; "Gorgeous" came out in mid-1999.
Two years later the band returned with "Covered With Ants",
their first release for Epitaph Records; it reached the #31 on Billboard's
Top Independent Albums list and the lead single, "That's Life",
received some airplay on alt-Rock stations. The original bass player,
Clint Wienrich, returned back with Guttermouth replacing Nunn and the
quintet in August 2002 unleashed "Gusto".
In July 2004 they followed up with their eighth studio album, "Eat
Your Face".
