The Alternative-Metal Rap-Metal outfit HED p.e. formed in Orange County,
California USA, in 1994, originally assembling frontman vocalist Jahred
born Jerred Shaine, guitarists Westyle and Chad 'Chizad' Benekos, bassist
Mark, drummer B.C. and turntablist DJ Product 1969.
The sextet made their debut a year later with an indie EP titled "Church
Of Realities" which showcased the group's vibrant sound, a chemistry
between Punk and Hip-Hop.
After developing a strong live show, Jahred and company inked a deal with
Jive Records and issued their self-titled debut album in the summer of
1997; the record landed them slots on the Ozzfest festival tour alongside
such industry giants as Korn, System
Of A Down, Kid Rock, Slipknot
and Static-X.
In August 2000, the group unleashed their next album, "Broke",
which cracked The Billboard Top 200 chart reaching the #63 position and
generating the Modern Rock top 30 hit "Bartender".
Over two and a half years later, HED p.e. re-emerged with "Blackout",
which climbed to a respectable #33 spot on The Billboard 200 Albums chart,
their highest chart placing to date; the title-track entered The Mainstream
Rock chart at #21; the crew then embarked on the Jagermeister Music Tour
with co-headliner Saliva.
During 2004 the band officially parted ways with Jive; along with the
label parting, HED p.e. replaced its guitar players and original drummer,
the revamped line-up includes Jahred, Mark, DJ Product plus new guitarist
Jaxon and new drummer Moke; they released in early 2005 the band's fourth
album, "Only In Amerika" and the single "Represent"
on Koch Records but the disc failed to replicate its predecessor's success.
In 2006 HED p.e. have once again re-invented themselves for the release
of "Back 2 Base X". Recorded live as a band in the studio, the
album provides an organic, fresh sound devoid of the computer tricks and
over-production that currently plagues music. Issued on Suburban Noize
Records, it peaked at #154 on The Billboard 200 and at #12 on the U.S.
Top Independent Albums charts; the 13-track set featured two singles,
"Get Ready" and "Beware Do We Go".
The California-based label released in July 2007 "Insomnia",
the band's sixth album of all original material; it includes the new single
"Suffa".
