The Alternative-Rock band Hinder was founded in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
USA, in 2001 by lead guitarist Joe 'Blower' Garvey and drummer Cody Hanson.
The two hooked up with Austin Winkler who became the group's lead singer
and with bass player Cole Paker the quartet had the opportunity to open
for such acts as Theory Of A Deadman
and Better Than Ezra.
Paker, subsequently left Hinder to spend time with his family; the band
replaced him with bassist Mike Rodden and bolstered its line-up by recruiting
rhythm guitarist Mark King.
Hinder released their Universal Records debut album in September 2005;
the first single off the CD, "Get Stoned", reached #4 on The
Mainstream Rock chart and began a phenomenal two-year string of hit singles
including the worldwide smash "Lips Of An Angel" which hit #1
in Australia and Canada, peaked at #3 on the U.S. Hot 100 and grazed both
Mainstream and Modern Rock radio as it climbed up to #3 and #8 respectively
on the Billboard charts; the third single, "How Long", shot
to #6 on Active Rock chart while "Better Than Me" climbed into
the top 40 in U.S. and reached #16 on The Hot Mainstream Rock list in
2007, "Homecoming Queen" also grabbed a #16 spot on the same
chart.
"Extreme Behavior" sold over 3 million units and has remained
in the Billboard Top 200 for 77 weeks; the band have toured non-stop for
more than 20 months headlining shows and opening for Godsmack,
Nickelback and select dates for Rock
legends Aerosmith. In October 2007 Hinder
released a Deluxe Edition of their 3 x platinum album featuring a bonus
DVD and previously unreleased songs including a cover version of Steppenwolf's
classic hit "Born To Be Wild".
The raucous Oklahoma fivesome released their much anticipated follow-up
album to their breakthrough LP in November 2008; the new CD, "Take
It To The Limit", features the cutting edge first single "Use
Me", which officially hit radio in July going straight into the top
3 of The Hot Mainstream Rock chart.
