Alternative-Rock act The Hives formed in the small industrial town of
Fagersta, SWEDEN, in 1993; the group comprised vocalist Howlin' Pelle
Almqvist, guitarists Nicholaus Arson and Vigilante Carlstroem, bassist
Dr. Matt Destruction and drummer Chris Dangerous, soon began to play music
together.
Two years later the quintet released a mini-CD entitled "Oh Lord!
When? How?"; their debut full-length album, "Barely Legal",
came out in 1997 and was supported by their first European tour.
A year later followed an EP called "A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T" and their
first tour dates in the United States.
The Year 2000 saw the release of the group's finest moment to date; "Veni
Vidi Vicious" achieved much attention and two years later their second
effort managed to crack The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart thanks to "Hate
To Say I Told You So" which peaked at #6 on The Modern Rock Tracks
and eventually hit the top 30 of the National British chart; the second
single, "Main Offender", was another U.K. top 40 hit for the
Swedish garage-rockers.
The Hives returned with "Tyrannosaurus Hives" in the summer
of 2004, it peaked at #33 on the American Billboard Top 200 Albums list
and hit #7 in U.K. while the main single, "Walk Idiot Walk",
crawled up to #19 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart and stormed into the top
20 charts all over Europe.
October 2007 saw the Swedish quintet unleash "The Black And White
Album"; the CD includes the infectious single "Tick Tick Boom".
