Hoobastank's origin can be traced back to Agoura Hills, California USA,
in 1994, when vocalist Doug Robb and guitarist Dan Estrin formed this
Alternative-Rock band, with bassist Markku Lappalainen and drummer Chris
Hess.
The quartet made their debut with the release of a self-titled album
in late 2001, it reached the #25 on The Billboard Top 200 chart and went
platinum thanks to the heavy spin of single "Running Away",
the track hit #2 on The Modern Rock chart and reached the #44 on The Billboard
Hot 100; the album also contained two more Modern Rock top 30 hits including
the top 3 "Crawling In The Dark" and "Remember Me".
Two years later, the Californian act, returned with its second effort,
"The Reason", which was even more wildly successful climbing
into the top 3 of The Billboard 200 Albums chart, generating a string
of smashes like the Modern Rock top 10 hit "Out Of Control"
and "Same Direction" which peakead at #14 in that chart and
the album had the massive multi-format hit single in its title-track,
the song rose to #2 on The Billboard Hot 100, hit #1 on The Modern Rock
list and the top spot on the Triple-A airplay charts.
April 2005 saw Hoobastank release their third full-length CD, "Every
Man For Himself", it includes the singles "If I Were You"
and "Inside Of You".
