Jackyl shot out of Kennesaw, Georgia USA, with its wild, untamed and uncouth approach to Rock 'n' Roll. Equal parts Hard-Rock, Heavy-Metal and Southern-Rock. Originally formed in 1991 the band rose to success, lead by charismatic singer + guitarist Jesse James Dupree; the original line-up also featured guitarists Jeff Worley and Jimmy Stiff, bassist Tom Bettini and drummer Chris Worley.

Full of spit and swagger, and a “dirty” sense of humor to boot, the quintet quickly earned a deal with Geffen Records. Jackyl's live shows were already legendary before the ink dried on the Geffen contract.
The 1992 self-titled debut album reached the #72 position on The Billboard 200 and went platinum spawning notable Mainstream Rock radio charting singles like the top 10 hit "Down On Me", "When Will It Rain" which fell just shy of the top 10, two top 40 hits, "I Stand Alone" and "Dirty Little Mind" and most notably "The Lumberjack", during which Dupree performed a chainsaw solo. Dupree's chainsaw escapades on album and in concert became one of many Jackyl trademarks.

The second album, "Push Comes To Shove", arrived in 1994 debuting at #46 on The Billboard Top 200 list while the title-track crested at #7 on The Mainstream Rock chart. That August, the group turned in one of the most acclaimed performances at Woodstock '94 in Saugerties, New York and the resulting double album "Woodstock 94" included another Active Rock top 40 hit "Headed For Destruction", a track from "Push Comes To Shove".

The music on Jackyl's next offering, "Cut The Crap", wasn't markedly different from the group's previous Southern-fried heavy-Rock; the CD was released in July 1997 but it failed to make it past #133 on The Billboard 200, however, the disc spawned the Mainstream Rock radio top 20 hit "Locked And Loaded", which included guest vocals by AC/DC's Brian Johnson. It was the first time Johnson had ever recorded with any artist but AC/DC since he joined the band 17 years earlier.

A collection of B-sides titled "Stayin' Alive" appeared on Shimmering Tone Records in November 1998.
The band earned two Guinness Book of World Records citations and the designation “The Hardest Working Band in Rock 'N' Roll” for performing 100 shows in 50 days as well as 21 shows in 24 hours.
In mid-2000 Jesse James Dupree put out his first solo album, "Foot Fetish".

After a substantial line-up change, both Stiff and Bettini left the fold, Jackyl enrolled new bassist, ex-Brother Cane Roman Glick and continued on as a four-piece, issuing "Relentless" on Humidity Records in the fall of 2002. It contained the second collaboration with Brian Johnson, "Kill The Sunshine", a single which promptly hit the Active Rock airplay top 40.

Following the release of Dupree's second solo album, Jackyl resurfaced in May 2010 with "When Moonshine And Dynamite Collide", the group's sixth studio album includes the single "She's Not A Drug".
