KT Tunstall was born in Edinburgh, SCOTLAND and brought up in the university
town of St Andrews; this singer+songwriter of Chinese ancestry took up
piano, then flute and gradually her singing voice developed its earthy
individuality; by her mid-teens, KT had started writing her own songs
and at 16, she took up the guitar, teaching herself from a busker's book.
Her debut album, "Eye To The Telescope", a provocative sonic
mesh of heartfelt Pop, folky bluesiness and left-field alt-Rock, was released
in mid-December 2004; in May 2005 it eventually climbed to #7 on the U.K.
Official Albums chart and the following year reached the #33 position
on the American Billboard Top 200 with worldwide sales exceeding 3 million
copies. The single "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree", which
appeared as a live recording on the original version of the album, became
a huge hit in Europe, New Zealand and even in the U.S. Hot 100 where it
leapt to #20. The second single, "Suddenly I See", enjoyed a
18-week chart run in the Australia Top 40 and reached #6; it also hit
#10 in U.K. and #21 on The Billboard Hot 100.
"Drastic Fantastic", the new album, will be out on September
10 and promises to deliver more of that very special KT Tunstall vibe;
the first single off the CD is "Hold On".
