Kenny Wayne Shepherd was born on June 12, 1977 in Shreveport, Louisiana
USA, he began playing guitar at the tender age of seven and raised sitting
in with other Blues-Rock performers, eventually formed his own band and
was signed to Revolution Records in 1993.
"Ledbetter Heights", his debut album, was released two years
later, the record reached the top of The Blues Albums going gold thanks
to a series of live appearances and high-profile opening slots for top
bands such as The Rolling Stones,
Aerosmith and Eagles,
the album contained three Mainstream Rock charting singles: the top 10
hit "Deja Voodoo", "Born With A Broken Heart" and
"Aberdeen".
In October of 1997 Shepherd issued "Trouble Is...", the album
hit #1 on Billboard Magazine's Blues Albums chart and reached the #74
spot on The Billboard Top 200 list, it included the Active Rock chart
topper "Blue On Black", two Mainstream Rock top 3 hits: "Slow
Ride" and "Somehow, Somewhere, Someway"; plus "Everything
Is Broken", a further top 10 entrant.
Another two years passed before he returned with his third effort, "Live
On", the third consecutive #1 on The Top Blues Albums chart; its
first single, "In 2 Deep", climbed into the top 5 of The Mainstream
Rock Tracks chart, "Was" followed into the top 10, "Last
Goodbye" reached #14 and helped boost the album up to #52 on The
Billboard 200 chart.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd took a five-year hiatus before returning to the studio
and in October 2004 resurfaced with a new full-length album the commercially
disappointing Hard-Rock release, "The Place You're In"; the
record, which featured a guest appearance by Kid
Rock, made a mid-chart appearance on The Billboard 200 peaking only
at #101 and spawned two radio singles with "Alive", which reached
the #13 slot on Billboard's Mainstream Rock list and the title-track,
a minor hit which failed to make it past #30 on Active Rock chart.
Shepherd's reverence for his musical roots are center-stage on his new
record, "Ten Days Out - Blues From The Backroads", a CD+DVD
package that features the guitarslinger and Double Trouble rhythm section
of bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton performing with major
contemporary blues players as well as lesser-known but historically significant
bluesmen. The set, released in January 2007, includes the Rock radio single
"Tina Marie" recorded in collaboration with Bryan Lee.
