The Alternative-Metal troupe Killswitch Engage formed in Boston, Massachusetts
USA, in 1999 from the ashes of New England hardcore bands; the initial
line-up was Jesse Leach on vocals, Joel Stroetzel on guitar, Mike D'Antonio
on bass and Adam Dutkiewitz on drums.
The band immediatly made an impact on the regional touring scene and
an opening slot for In Flames attracted
the attention of Ferret Music label who signed them in 2000 and released
their self-titled debut album that summer.
Killswitch Engage continued to experiment with unusual combinations of
ferocious sound and melodic Metal and with its fan base ballooning the
band jumped to Roadrunner Records in 2001; a year later their second album,
"Alive Or Just Breathing", was released. It broke into the Billboard's
Top Heatseekers chart spawning the single "My Last Serenade"
which was a moderate Metal-radio hit.
A few changes in the line-up followed, Howard Jones stepped in to replace
Leach, Dutkiewitz switched to the guitar and they were joined behind the
drum kit by newcomer Justin Foley; thus reconfigured, Killswitch Engage
released its third full-length disc, "The End Of Heartache",
which climbed to #21 on The Billboard Top 200 Albums list while the title-track
hit #31 on The Mainstream Rock chart.
The New England quintet, will release their new album and third for Roadrunner,
"As Daylight Dies", on November 21st; the 11-track set includes
the single "My Curse".
