Kheaven Brereton, born on February 20, 1972, started out as a known musician
in Whitby, Ontario, CANADA in the jazzy Hip-Hop group, Carib-Riddim. Later
taking a few courses at Carleton University in Ottawa; after one semester,
he moved back to Toronto and then attended York University. During his
time there he began to perform as k-os, his stage name is pronounced chaos
and is an acronym for knowledge of self.
In March 2002 the Toronto-based MC + singer & producer, proud to
not fit perfectly into any genre, released his debut album, "Exit",
on EMI Music Canada.
"Joyful Rebellion" followed two years later, garnering him
more attention and critical praise; the CD eventually peaked at #7 on
Top Canadian Albums chart and snagged platinum-plus status.
October 2006 saw the genuine neo-crossover artist release his third record,
"Atlantis Hymns For Disco"; it went straight into the top 5
in Canada thanks in part to the modern Rock-tinged top 20 hit single "Sunday
Morning". The album became his first U.S. Billboard Top 200 entry
at #152.
k-os' next full-length disc, "Yes!", arrived in April 2009,
earning him another Canadian top 10 album; it contained a handful of minor
hit singles including 100 XR's fave "Burning Bridges".
