Rap-Metal Funk-Metal band founded in the mid-'90s, in Jacksonville, Florida
USA, by vocalist Fred Durst and bass player Sam Rivers; the pair hooked-up
with guitarist Wes Borland and drummer John Otto.
Limp Bizkit's first break in the music scene was in 1995 when they toured
as an opening act for House Of Pain
and Deftones; Durst kept in touch with
DJ Lethal and the following year when House
Of Pain disbanded, the turntablist joined the Bizkits as a permanent
member.
They signed with Flip/Interscope Records and in 1997 released their debut
album, "Three Dollar Bill Y'All", which by the time reached
the #22 on The Billboard Top 200 chart, the record included their first
Modern Rock top 30 hit, "Faith".
Two years later came out their breakthrough disc, "Significant Other",
which peaked at #1 on The Billboard Top 200 chart and featured the Modern
Rock #1 smash "Re-Arranged", the top 3 hit "Nookie",
"N 2 Gether Now" reached the #70 on The Billboard Hot 100 and
"Break Stuff" made top 20 on both Active and Modern Rock charts;
the four singles helped the album sell over 7 million copies in U.S. alone.
Upon its release, the follow-up 2000's "Chocolate Starfish And The
Hot Dog Flavored Water", quickly reached the #1 slot on The Billboard
200 Albums chart, it included the transatlantic hit, "Take A Look
Around", the theme song for the film "Mission Impossible 2";
consequently the band spearheaded Rap-Metal movement worldwide; their
third effort generated two more Modern Rock Tracks top 10 hits including
the #3 "My Way" and "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)",
the latter of which topped the Official U.K. chart; also "My Generation"
and "Boiler" received strong airplay on American alt-Rock stations.
In October of 2001 Borland left the group due to creative differences;
in December was issued the remix-album "New Old Songs" reaching
the #26 in U.S. Top 200 chart.
Two years later the band announced that new Bizkit's guitarist was Mike
Smith and the fourth album, "Results May Vary", was released
before the year's end; it climbed to #3 on The Billboard 200 list, the
first single off of the CD, "Eat You Alive", cracked the top
20 on both Mainstream and Modern Rock Tracks charts; followed the Active
Rock top 40 hit "Almost Over" and the final single, "Behind
Blue Eyes" a cover of The Who classic,
rose to #11 and #18 respectively on Mainstream and Modern Rock Tracks
chart.
Wes Borland rejoined the ranks of Limp Bizkit during the summer of 2004
and in early May 2005 arrived the group's fifth album, "The Unquestionable
Truth (Part 1)" and the new Rock-radio single "The Truth".
