The Alternative-Rock two-piece outfit Local H, was formed in the early
'90s in Zion, Illinois USA, by two high school friends: singer+guitarist
Scott Lucas and drummer Joe Daniels; after spending time together on the
road performing in Chicago clubs without a bass player, which makes them
a rarity in the Rock world, Island Records picked up the duo and they
soon proceeded to record an album.
In 1994 Lucas installed a bass pickups into his guitar, so Local H were
able to cut their debut full-length disc, "Ham Fisted" which
was released in January 1995 and eventually launched a supporting tour
including opening slots for Silverchair.
"As Good As Dead", the band's sophomore effort, came out in
April 1996, it debuted The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #147 spawning
the Modern Rock top 5 smash single "Bound For The Floor"; the
album also included two more alt-Rock radio top 40 hits: "Eddie Vedder"
and "Fritz's Corner"; that same year the band supported Stone
Temple Pilots on their arena tour.
Two years later, in September 1998, Local H released "Pack Up The
Cats", an album which replicated the chart performance of its predecessor
while the main single, "All The Kids Are Right", hit the top
20 on both Billboard's Modern and Mainstream Rock charts.
In 1999 Daniels left the unconventional outfit and the band was dropped
from Island.
After nearly three years Lucas reformed Local H by pulling in drummer
Brian St. Clair and in March 2002 the band issued "Here Comes The
Zoo" on the indie label Palm Pictures; the album, which features
guest appearance by Joshua Homme from Queens
Of The Stone Age, hit #13 on the Billboard Magazine's Top Independent
Albums chart and included the Active Rock top 40 single "Half Life".
In May of 2003 the duo released "No Fun" a 6-song EP which was
followed a year later by Local H's fifth full-length disc, "Whatever
Happened To P.J. Soles?"; the album barely broke the top 30 of the
U.S. Independent chart and its lead single, "California Songs",
failed to chart.
September 2005 saw the release of the live compilation "Alive '05";
the set, cut from millions upon millions of hundreds of hours of
tape recorded during Local H's extensive 2005 world tour , that's
in the liner notes, features 18 songs in total, including the studio version
of their rendition of Britney Spears' "Toxic".
Local H return with their sixth studio album on May 13, titled "12
Angry Months". The band's debut on Shout! Factory, is preceded by
the single "24 Hour Break-Up Session".
