Lou Gramm, born Louis Grammatico on May 2, 1950 in Rochester, New York USA, began his musical career in his mid-teens playing in local bands and in the mid-'70s formed Black Sheep releasing two albums. Among the most distinctive and powerful voices to emerge from Rock and Top 40 radio, Gramm, well-known as the lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner, as well as a successful solo artist in his own right, remains one of the most recognizable performers in music today.

From 1977 through 1980, the six members of Foreigner would rule The Billboard Hot 100 chart with what seemed to be an endless string of top 10 hits that included "Feels Like The First Time", "Cold As Ice", "Hot Blooded", "Double Vision", "Dirty White Boy" and several others. In 1981, they re-grouped as a quartet with Gramm and guitarist Mick Jones at the forefront of the creative core releasing their first U.S. #1 album: "4".
Problems began in 1986, when the tension between himself and Jones had grown to the point where Gramm needed to do his own thing.

In February 1987 Lou Gramm released his first solo album, "Ready Or Not", which had immediate success with "Midnight Blue", this single quickly bulleted into the top 5 of The Billboard Hot 100. Also, in the year of its release, the song was Billboard's #1 most played single at Rock radio. The album peaked at #27 on The Billboard 200 while the title-track rocketed to #7 on The Mainstream Rock chart.

Gramm returned to make the "Inside Information" album with Foreigner, but the experience was creatively unfulfilling for him. By the end of 1988, he announced he was leaving the group.

In November 1989 the New York rocker released a second solo album, "Long Hard Look", which had another massive smash with "Just Between You And Me", this single crawled up to #6 on The Billboard Hot 100 and shot to #4 on The Mainstream Rock Tracks. The album reached the #85 position on The Billboard 200 and spawned another Billboard's Hot 100 top 40 hit in "True Blue Love" which also grabbed a #23 spot on the Mainstream Rock radio airplay chart.

In 1991, Gramm formed a new Rock band, Shadow King, releasing one critically acclaimed album on Atlantic but, caught in a shifting radio landscape, it never became a major commercial success.
It appeared that Gramm and Jones eventually were able to resolve their personal and creative differences in 1992. The two reformed Foreigner shortly thereafter and returned for nearly a 10-year run that included the "Mr. Moonlight" album.
It was in 1996, that fate, once again, intervened. After complaining of headaches, short-term and long-term memory loss and ironically, double vision, Gramm was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. Surgery was successful and he continued to tour with Foreigner until late 2002.

In June 2009, nearly three decades after the debut of Foreigner and chart-topping success as a solo artist, Lou Gramm returned with The Lou Gramm Band, a new CD and a dynamic live show featuring his own unique brand of Rock; the new band features his two talented brothers, Richard Grammatico on bass and guitar, Ben Grammatico on drums; also on board is guitarist Don Mancuso and keyboardist Andy Knoll.
