The Alternative-Rock band Ludo, named after a giant puppet from the movie
"Labyrinth", was formed initially as a duo in desperate need
of a rhythm section, comprised of vocalist+guitarist Andrew Volpe and
lead guitarist Tim Ferrell, but after relentless acoustic touring resulting
from a policy that they play a show every night, they decided it was time
to start recruiting others to join them in, of all places, Tulsa, Oklahoma
USA. The pair then recruited keyboardist Tim Convy, bassist Marshall Fanciullo
and drummer Matt Palermo.
In the spring of 2004 Ludo released its debut self-titled album on St.
Louis independent label Redbird Records. In the run up to their second
recording, "Broken Bride", a Rock opera EP released a year later,
the band began to make its mark on the music scene outside of St. Louis.
It was in late 2006 that the quintet, now based in Missouri, signed with
Island Records to release a second full-length disc; after four years
of insane hard work, coast-to-coast survival touring Ludo clawed their
way to the top of the heap with "Love Me Dead", the first single
from their major label album debut, "You're Awful, I Love You",
released in February 2008.
