Methods Of Mayhem was the Rap-Metal project of Mötley
Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. In 1998
he spent several months in jail after his wife, actress Pamela Anderson,
accused him of hitting her in front of their children; Lee decided to
leave the Crüe during his stay in prison.
Teaming with rapper Tilo, bass player Chris Chaney and keyboardist Scott
Kirkland from The Crystal Method,
the following year he formed the new outfit and "Methods Of Mayhem"
was finally released in December 1999 via MCA Records; the record, which
featured guest appearances by Limp Bizkit's
Fred Durst, Kid Rock and Snoop Dogg, debuted
at #71 on The Billboard 200.
The band's live line-up comprised Lee, Chaney, Tilo, Canadian guitarist
Kai and a second drummer, ex-Jane's
Addiction Stephan Perkins.
After only one album, the group split up and Tommy
Lee mounted a solo career.
