The Louisville, Kentucky USA-based psychedelic Alternative-Rock outfit
My Morning Jacket was originally formed in 1998 by singer+guitarist &
songwriter Jim James, guitarist Johnny Quaid, bassist Two-Tone Tommy and
drummer J. Glenn.
After signing to the indie label Darla Records, the quartet issued their
debut album, "The Tennessee Fire", in mid-1999, the band quickly
established themselves as a prominent force on a multi-regional music
scene through their energetic live shows.
The group's second effort, "At Dawn", came out two years later;
Glenn was subsequently replaced in the line-up by drummer Patrick Hallahan
and Danny Cash was added as the band's permanent keyboardist.
During 2003 the revamped My Morning Jacket snagged a deal with ATO Records,
toured with the likes of Burning Brides,
Doves and Foo
Fighters and recorded their first major label full-length disc, "It
Still Moves", which peaked at #2 on the Billboard's Top Heatseekers
Albums chart and reached the #121 position on The Billboard 200 list,
upon its September release.
Over a year later, tired of touring, Quaid and Cash both left the band
and were eventually replaced by guitarist Carl Broemel and keyboardist
Bo Koster.
The Kentucky-bred Rock act's fourth album, "Z", arrived in October
2005; the 10-song set, which includes the single "Off The Record",
peaked at #67 on The Billboard 200, their best chart-placing to date.
My Morning Jacket throws fans another sonic curveball on its new studio
album, "Evil Urges", due June 10 via ATO Records.
