Raised up in Possum Kingdom, South Carolina USA, the sons of an Assembly
of God pastor, brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart developed an early enthusiasm
for music, learning piano from their mom, then moving on to guitar in
their teens.
After graduation, the two brothers returned home to Seneca, in South Carolina.
In 1999, with Bear Rinehart assuming the role of singer + guitarist &
pianist, Bo Rinehart on guitar, Seth Bolt on bass and Joe Stillwell on
drums together, the line-up of this modern Southern Pop-Rock band was
in place and NeedToBreathe was born.
After signing with Atlantic/Lava Records in spring 2005, the group traveled
to England to track their first album; the group penetrate the Christian
music industry with their debut disc, "Daylight"; the album,
which featured 11 tracks including the Hot Adult Top 40 hit single "You
Are Here", was released in April 2006.
They toured nearly non-stop following the album's release criss-crossing
America as headliners as well as supporting such artists as Train,
Jars Of Clay, Edwin
McCain and Collective Soul,
the latter of whose frontman Ed Roland shared producing credits on the
band's next album.
"The Heat" arrived in August 2007, peaking at #11 on the Billboard
Top Christian Albums chart and reaching the #164 position on The Billboard
200; it included the single "More Time", that spent one week
in the lower reaches of the Canadian Hot 100 and the U.S. Christian chart-topper
"Washed By The Water".
The new album "The Outsiders" by NeedToBreathe will be released
on August 25, 2009.
