This Alternative-Rock band was formed in 1996 in Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, by singer+guitarist Chad Kroeger, his brother Mike Kroeger on bass, guitarist Ryan Peake and Kroegers' cousin Brandon on drums.

That same year they recorded an independent EP which was followed by the release of their debut full-lenght album titled "Curb", it received some airplay on Canadian radio stations.
After almost four years, Nickelback, re-emerged with a new drummer, Ryan Vikedal, with major deals: EMI Canada and Roadrunner Records in the U.S. who released their second album, "The State"; both the first two singles, "Breathe" and "Leader Of Men", crashed into the top 10 of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, propelling the CD to #130 in U.S. Top 200 Albums chart; one more single cut, "Old Enough", made top 30 on Mainstream Rock chart.
In September of 2001, Nickelback, issued its third album, "Silver Side Up"; the first single, the masterpiece "How You Remind Me" quickly reached the #1 spots on Canadian National chart, on Billboard's Mainstream and Modern Rock lists, a few weeks later climbed to the top of The Billboard Hot 100 and similar success followed in Europe; two more singles, "Too Bad" and "Never Again", hit #1 on The Mainstream Rock Tracks chart; "Silver Side Up" soared to #2 on The Billboard Top 200 chart and to the top spot in their native Canada; eventually the album went on to sell more than 9 million units worldwide.
In 2002 frontman Chad Kroeger collaborated with Saliva singer Josey Scott for the "Spiderman" soundtrack, they released the wonderful international chart-topper single "Hero".
The Nickelback's fourth album arrived in September of 2003, "The Long Road" became an instant #1 on Top Canadian Albums chart and peaked at #6 in the States; its main single, "Someday", peaked at #1 in Canada, at #7 on The Billboard Hot 100 and broke the top 5 on both Modern and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts; it was follewed by the Active Rock top 3 hit "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good" and by "Figured You Out" which hit #1 and #4 respectively on Mainstream and Modern Rock Tracks charts, the fourth single off of the CD, "Because Of You", made top 10 on Active Rock chart.

Nickelback returned to record stores in October 2005 with a new album titled "All The Right Reasons", the first single off the CD is "Photograph". The new album will also be the first to feature new drummer, ex-3 Doors Down, Daniel Adair.
