This Alternative-Metal band began in the mid-'90s in Washington DC, USA,
comprising lead singer Matt Holt, guitarist Tom Maxwell, bassist Bill
Gaal and drummer Chris Houck.
Signed to DCide Records, early in 1997, Nothingface delivered their first
full-length album "Pacifier"; over one and a half years they
followed it with "An Audio Guide To Everyday Atrocity", eventually
building an impressive reputation as a ferocious live band with overwhelming
energy, power and precision.
When the group signed a contract with TVT Records gained enhanced exposure
and their third effort, "Violence", climbed into the top 40
of the U.S. Top Independent Albums chart, backed by the Active Rock radio
hit "Bleeder". After this album was complete, drummer Tommy
Sickles replaced Houck and with this line-up, the group found themselves
sharing the stage with the likes of Pantera,
Disturbed and Mudvayne,
among others.
The quartet resurfaced in April 2003 with "Skeletons"; it soared
to #7 on the Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and became their
first Billboard 200 Sales chart entry at #125. Nothingface also lost bass
player Bill Gaal, who left the band to pursue other interests, Jerry Montano
stepped in to resume bass playing duties.
