Industrial Alternative-Metal band formed in 1997 in Los Angeles, California
USA, comprising vocalist Jay Gordon, guitarist Ryan Shuck, synth-guitairist
Amir Derakh, bassist Paige Haley and drummer Bobby Hewitt.
The quintet issued their debut album, "Candyass", in the summer
of 1998, on Elementree Records, the label owned by Korn,
the record showcased a new style of music, a mixture of Metal, Electro-Rock
and Techno; it included a couple of hit singles: "Stitches",
which broke into the top 20 of Billboard's Modern Rock, but it was New
Order's cover "Blue Monday" that gave them popularity in
the U.S. and Canada, the track peaked at #4 on Modern Rock chart and put
the album at #1 on Billboard Magazine's Top Heatseekers list, the record
also cracked the top 40 of The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
The band returned in August of 2000 with a new single titled "Fiction
(Dreams In Digital)", it quickly rose to the #6 slot on Modern Rock
Tracks list and helped their sophomore album, "Vapor Transmission",
reached the #16 on The Billboard 200 chart; also the follow-up single,
"Opticon", entered The Modern Rock chart reaching #26.
After a prolonged dry spell and various side-projects, Orgy came back
together to independently release "Punk Statik Paranoia" in
February 2004; the set rose to #11 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums
chart.
