Alternative-Metal band formed in Vacaville, California USA, in 1993 while
vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, bassist Will James and drummer Ryan Brown were
still in high school, with guitar player Jerry Horton joining shortly
afterwards.
They immediately began recording material, playing gigs around the Bay
Area including opening for Deftones; after
the relese in 1994 of the self-financed debut EP, "Potatoes For Christmas",
Dave Buckner joined as a permanet drummer and two years later James was
replaced by bass player Tobin Esperance.
The group's indie-full-length album, "Old Friends From Young Years",
which arrived in 1997 was a local hit and led to support slots for bands
such as Incubus and Powerman
5000 which helped introduce Papa Roach to a wider audience.
During 1999, they recorded another independent EP, "Let 'Em Know"
and inked a deal with Dreamworks who released, a year later, their long
awaited major debut album, "Infest"; the record shot to #5 on
both Billboard Top 200 and Canadian Albums charts spawning three Modern
Rock smash singles including the #1 "Last Resort", the top 10
hit "Broken Home" and "Between Angels And Insects",
which drives the album into triple-platinum sales figures.
In the summer of 2002 the group issued their third album, "Lovehatetragedy",
which rose to #2 on Billboard's Top 200 chart; it included "She Loves
Me Not", the single peaked at #5 and #3 respectively on the Billboard's
Modern and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, the second single cut, "Time
And Time Again", entered the top 30 of the Active Rock chart.
Papa Roach returned in August 2004 with "Getting Away With Murder",
the album debuted at #17 in the U.S. Top 200 chart while two singles,
"Scars" and the title-track, smashed into the top 5 on both
the Billboard's Modern and Active Rock charts.
The Northern Californian alt-Metal group are back with a new album entitled
"The Paramour Sessions" which includes the single "To Be
Loved".
