Born on July 27, 1974 in New Jersey USA, Pete Yorn taught himself to
play his older brother's drum kit at the age of 9 and was learning the
guitar by the time he was 12; after a talent show at his Montville New
Jersey high school in 1990, Yorn had stepped up to the vocal duties and
began writing his own material; he received his communications degree
from the University of Syracuse in New York before launching his musical
career.
Relocating in Los Angeles, after various jobs including bank teller and
production assistant, in 2000 Pete Yorn began writing music for the TV
show "Dawson's Creek" and for the movie soundtrack of "Me,
Myself And Irene".
He eventually landed a contract with Columbia Records who released his
debut album "Musicforthemorningafter" in March 2001; the South
Jersey singer+songwriter hit the road in support, sharing bills with bands
like Foo Fighters, Coldplay,
R.E.M. and others; the record peaked at
#1 on the Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and reached the #111 position
on The Billboard 200 Sales list spawning the Modern Rock top 30 hit "For
Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)", "Life On A Chain" which cracked
the Adult Top 40 airplay chart and another Modern Rock top 40 hit: "Strange
Condition".
"Day I Forgot", his eagerly-awaited successor to "Musicforthemorningafter",
was released in April 2003 to widespread critical acclaim and debuted
at #18 on The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart; the first single off the
CD, "Come Back Home", reached #32 on The Modern Rock chart.
Pete Yorn are back with his third studio album, "Nightcrawler";
the set features his new single "For Us".
