Vocalist + guitarist Peter Morén from Dalarna and vocalist + bassist
Björn Yttling from Västerbotten had been playing music together
for eight years when they in 1999 met drummer John Eriksson from Norrbotten;
all of these towns are located in the north of SWEDEN and the three-piece
indie Pop-Rock band frequently performed at music clubs around the region
as Peter Bjorn And John.
In 2002 the home recorded self-titled debut album was released and received
favorable reviews as well as some national airplay with the tracks "Matchmaker"
and "People They Know".
2004 saw the follow-up with the more complete, mature and darker "Falling
Out"; the main single, "It Beats Me Everytime", became
a Swedish radio hit and the album was released Stateside the following
year to press acclaim.
In mid-2006 Peter Bjorn And John embarked on the second phase of their
careers; the trio's third album, "Writer's Block", recorded
in Björn's studio in Hornstull, Stockholm, was the first to showcase
all three members as songwriters and taking on lead vocalist duties. The
11-song set climbed into the British Top 100 Albums chart and reached
the #155 position on the American Billboard 200 while the lead single,
"Young Folks, hit #22 on The Hot Modern Rock chart.
The Swedish popsters released their fourth full-length disc, "Seaside
Rock", in September 2008; the press blurb said that it was a homage
to Peter, Bjorn and John's respective hometowns and featured dialect
from each of the three areas; the album was also issued as a limited-edition
package, vinyl with a digital download code, in the United States.
In March 2009, Peter Bjorn And John released their latest album, "Living
Thing". The set, which includes the single "Nothing To Worry
About", managed to penetrate the top 100 of the U.S. Billboard Albums
chart.
