New York's Rev Theory is comprised of lead singer Rich Luzzi, guitarist
Julien Jorgensen, bassist Matty 5 and drummer Dave Agoglia. Luzzi, Jorgensen
and Agoglia first met while experimenting with music during their college
days in Massachusetts in 2002. Their sound originates from Hard-Rock,
early Grunge and the excitement of Nu-Metal; the project was completed
with the hiring of Matty who also assumed the role vocalist.
Initially adopting the name of Revelation Theory and releasing an independently
distributed 6-track EP to wide and commercial success, the quartet hit
the road and built their fan base through extensive touring playing with
established acts such as Chevelle, Breaking
Benjamin, Theory Of A Deadman,
Collective Soul and more. They
eventually signed with Element Records for their debut full-length album,
"Truth Is Currency", which was released in September 2005; it
included the Mainstream Rock top 30 hit single "Slowburn".
In early 2007 they shortened their name to the current Rev Theory. Their
second album, "Light It Up", debuted in the top 100 of The Billboard
200 upon its June 2008 release and the first official single, "Hell
Yeah" made its way into the top 30 of the Active Rock airplay chart.
