Based in Louisville, Kentucky USA, the Alternative-Rock outfit Tantric
was formed in 1999 by three members of Days
Of The New: guitarist Todd Whitener, bass player Jesse Vest and drummer
Matt Taul; within a short time, they were joined by vocalist Hugo Ferreira,
who completed the line-up.
Their self-titled debut album was issued on Maverick Records in early
2001 and became a quick success on The Billboard Top 200 chart peaking
at #71 while the first single, "Breakdown", shot to #1 on The
Mainstream Rock chart and peaked at #4 on The Modern Rock Tracks; the
second single cut, "Astounded", has also enjoyed chart success
reaching the #7 slot on the Active Rock chart and the final single, "Mourning",
made it into the top 20 on that same chart. They maintained a high profile
by touring with the likes of Creed and Kid
Rock and sharing the stage with everyone from Coldplay
and Staind to Stone
Temple Pilots and 3 Doors Down.
Released in advance of the second album, lead single "Hey Now"
debuted into the top 10 of The Mainstream Rock chart in the fall of 2003.
"After We Go" reached the #56 position on Billboard's Top 200
Albums chart upon its February 2004 release spawning two more Active Rock
top 40 hits with the title-track and the cover of Fleetwood
Mac's "The Chain".
After an unbelievably successful platinum debut album and during the
promotion of their second record, Tantric had to endure the demise of
Maverick, plus numerous personal trials and tribulations.
Tantric is back with a new line-up and a new outlook on life and music;
frontman Hugo Ferreira, welcomes a talented group of new musicians: Joe
Pessia on guitar, Marcus Ratzenboeck on violin, Erik Leonhardt, from labelmates
Fosterchild, on bass and Kevin Miller,
ex-Fuel and also of Fosterchild,
on drums. The band have a new single out called "Down And Out",
it will be followed by the album "The End Begins".
