This Alternative-Rock Windsor, Ontario CANADA-based act started out as
trio in 1990 comprising of Jeff Martin as lead vocals+lead guitar, Stuart
Chatwood on bass+keyboards and Jeff Burrows on drums.
Over the next couple of years, The Tea Party, released an independent
album, started to play live shows on the local circuit and scored a deal
with EMI Music Canada who released the official debut full-length disc,
"Splendor Solis", the group supported the album by touring their
native Canada, Europe and Australia where the record reached the gold
status, in their homelad "Splendor Solis" sold over 100,000
copies and made them one of the most popular bands.
Their second effort, "The Edges Of Twilight", recorded with
over 31 different exotic and acoustic instruments, saw the light in 1995;
after the second overseas promotional tour and the video for "The
Bazaar", the album became an even bigger hit than the first.
One year later appeared "Alhambra", a six-track EP which included
4 re-worked acoustic songs from the second album, "Time" with
Roy Harper on vocals and the remix of "Sister Awake".
In the summer of 1997, the trio issued "Transmission", featuring
the hit single "Temptation"; their third LP rose to #3 on the
Canadian Albums chart.
Another two years passed before the three-piece returned with a new album,
"TRIPtych", once again the record ranked in the top 5 of the
Canadian chart, spawning the smash single, "Heaven Coming Down".
The Tea Party celebrated its 10th anniversary, in late 2000, with the
release of "Tangents", a collection of their best songs blended
with new tracks including the cover of The
Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black".
The trio returned one year later with "The Interzone Mantras",
their fifth LP of all-new-material, it peaked at #4 and #6 respectively
on The Canadian and Autralian Albums charts.
Over the course of 2002 the band embarked on a Canadian tour opening for
Ozzy Osbourne and subsequently performed
live at the Big Day Out Festival in Australia.
The Tea Party's next album, "Seven Circles", was issued in August
2004, it includes the single "Writing's On The Wall".
