This Alternative-Rock band was formed in late 1997 in Norwood, Ontario
CANADA by three members of the five-piece outfit called Groundswell: vocalist+guitarist
Adam Gontier, bass player Brad Walst and drummer Neil Sanderson.
Relocating to Toronto, the threesome recorded a 3-track demo disc which
was sold off-stage at concerts; they eventually scored a deal with EMI
in their homeland, signed a contract with major U.S. label, Jive Records
in September 2002 and soon the guys were ready for their international
debut.
They recorded the single, "(I Hate) Everything About You", that
helped their self-titled debut album rocket into the top 10 of the Canadian
National chart upon its release in mid-2003; the record reached the #69
spot on The Billboard 200 Albums list while the first single hit #2 on
The Modern Rock chart and #4 on The Mainstream Rock Tracks chart; around
this time the group decided to expand the line-up to include Barry Stock
on guitar, Three Days Grace toured North-America several times with contemporary
alt-Rock acts such as Theory Of A Deadman
and Thornley; two more single off of the album
stormed the Billboard's Rock charts over the course of 2004, "Home"
peaked at #2 and #9 respectively on Modern and Active Rock lists; "Just
Like You" rose to the top spots on both the charts.
June 2006 saw the rease of the band's sophomore album, "One-X";
the 12-track set was an instant smash hitting the top 5 on both U.S. and
Canada trailed by "Animal I Have Become" which shot to #1 on
both U.S. Hot Modern and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
