Alternative-Rock Pop-Rock quartet formed in 1986 in Santa Barbara, California
USA, by lead singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean
Dinning and drummer Randy Guss. The group released its first self-financed
album, "Bread And Circus" in 1998, the following year the foursome
signed for Columbia Records that re-issued the album, it includes the
single "One Little Girl" which entered the top 30 of The Modern
Rock chart. A year later appeared "Pale", the record generated
another top 30 Modern Rock hit: "Come Back Down". Their third
effort, "Fear", was issued in 1991, it included their most popular
track, "All I Want" which peaked at #15 on The Billboard Hot
100 and pushed the album into the top 50 of The Billboard Top 200 chart,
also the second single, "Walk On The Ocean", ranked in the top
20 of the Hot 100 chart, both the singles climbed into the top 30 of the
Billboard's Rock charts. The Toad's fourth album "Dulcinea",
which featured the #1 Modern Rock single "Fall Down" plus the
top 10 "Something's Always Wrong", peaked at #34 on The Billboard
200 Albums chart. The band released in October 1995 "In Light Syrup"
that replicated the chart status of its predecessor, with only one single,
"Good Intentions", charting top 20 Billboard's Rock charts.
1997's "Coil" became their best chart-placing to date reaching
the #19 in U.S. Top 200 and spawning "Come Down" which reached
the #13 on Modern Rock Tracks chart. The group disbanded in summer 1998.
Toad The Wet Sprocket played together a few shows for the first time in
four years in early 2003.
