Born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962 in Athens, GRECEE, he grew up in Los Angeles where began playing drums in various Hard-Rock bands.

Tommy Lee had his big break in 1981 when formed Mötley Crüe, the band emerged as one of the best-selling Pop-Metal band of the '80s, in 1986 he married actress Heather Locklear, the relationship ended in divorce eight years later; during the second half of the '90s, Lee had another turbulent marriage with Pamela Anderson, a union which produced the highly publicized home-made sex video.
In 1998 the drummer was sentenced to jail for six months for assaulting his wife, a year later he eventually left Mötley Crüe to concentrate on his new Rap-Metal project Methods Of Mayhem.
In 2001 Lee made a guest appearance on Rob Zombie's "The Sinister Urge" and then began recording his first solo album.
"Never A Dull Moment" was released in May of 2002 on MCA Records, it debuted at #39 on The Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and generated "Hold Me Down" which rose to #5 on The Mainstream Rock Tracks list.
The next year he collaborated with Monster Magnet frontman Dave Wyndorf and with Andrew W.K. making music for the soundtrack to the movie "Torque".
Lee rejoined Mötley Crüe in 2004 and the group began working on a new record which was issued that fall.

In the summer of 2005 Tommy Lee released his second solo album, "Tommyland: The Ride", in conjunction with his NBC reality show; the first single, "Trying To Be Me", was recorded in collaboration with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback; the album features guest performances by Carl Bell of Fuel, Derick Whibley of Sum 41 and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte.
